Unit students explore careers
Year 10 and 11 students from Unit have explored a variety of careers during their recent work experience placements.
Year 10 and 11 students from Unit have explored a variety of careers during their recent work experience placements.
The students worked with councils, businesses and other schools during their placements just before the half term holiday.
Teacher Caron Brown said: “Every single placement was a success.
“They coped very well with working longer hours and in some cases shifts.
“All the students had really great experiences which helped them to reach conclusions about what they would like to do in the future.”
Aaron Cox worked at Motorsavers in Corby.
He said: “I helped to fix customers’ bikes, worked on the shop floor and stocked shelves.
“I really like cars and bikes and I would like to be a mechanic so this was a great experience for me.”
Lizzy Crosby worked at the Phoenix School.
She said: “I enjoyed interacting with the students and helping them with their lessons.
“I would really like to work at a school.”
Joshua Day worked with Corby Borough Council at Corby Boating Lake.
He said: “I helped to look after the area and worked at the shop.
“I really enjoyed meeting the customers.”
Liam Smith worked with Year 2 pupils at Woodnewton Primary School.
He said: “I helped the pupils to work on their handwriting and helped them with a number of projects, including making posters.”
Brandon Lindsay worked with two-year-olds at Woodnewton.
He said: “I really enjoyed working with the children.”
