Students from Unit had the chance to try their hand at being chefs at a town centre restaurant.
A burger restaurant in Corby opened its doors to our students to give them the chance to work in the kitchen and in front of house.
After they had finished work the students also enjoyed a celebratory meal for our Year 11 leavers.
Base Tutor Laura Thompson said: “This experience was part of our life skills curriculum.
“The students had the chance to experience a working environment and they ordered a meal and worked out their budget. It was a great opportunity for them to learn life skills and socialise.”
Year 10 student Chloe Clarke said: “The staff took us to the kitchen and they showed us how to use a variety of equipment properly.
“I enjoyed making the burgers and our drinks.
“I would like to work as a bartender in the future so working at the restaurant was a really good experience for me.”
Year 11 student Lizzy Crosby said: “It was great working front of house and making the burgers.
“I really enjoyed preparing the meal.”
Year 10 student Joshua Day added: “It was great making our own food in a restaurant kitchen. It was an interesting experience.”
