Christmas celebrations at the Academy
To get students and staff into the Christmas spirit, the Academy hosted a variety of events and activities including a Christmas Jumper Day.
Everyone paid £1 to wear their Christmas Jumper, which raised total of £800 for Save the Children. There was also a competition to find the best jumper and one of our Sixth Form students won this for her creativity of a jumper decorated with fairy lights.
Our Network Manager Mr Hinchliffe won the Christmas Caroloke Sweepstake and the staff put together a band. They performed a variety of popular songs including Use Somebody by The Killers, YMCA by Village People and 500 Miles by The Proclaimers.
To end the term we held our annual Christmas tree competition, which the PNS faculty won for their snowman themed tree. The Unit Provision decorated their tree in the theme of the Disney film Frozen and BHE decorated theirs in the theme of their faculty.
Principal Ms Janina Taylor said ‘During the last week of term we have had lots of fun getting into the festive spirit. It was great to see our students showcasing their Christmas jumpers and the band performed amazingly; the students all seemed to really enjoy it. It was also lovely to watch the staff and students working together to decorate the trees in each faculty and they really did brighten up the building by adding some festive sparkle.’
