CBA attend the Carnegie Shadowing event at BWA.

Corby Business Academy recently attended the Carnegie Shadowing event at Brooke Weston Academy. Students from CBA, BWA and also Beanfield and Oakley Vale primary schools met to discuss this year’s shortlisted titles and vote for their favourites.

Students were split into teams and took part in a quiz before going in front of an audience to ‘book push’, arguing convincingly for which title they thought should win the prestigious Yoto Carnegie award.

The votes were cast and 'The Worlds we Leave Behind' won the prize for illustrated book while 'The Eternal Return of Clara Hart' had most support in the writing category. The actual results will be announced at lunchtime on Wednesday 21st June and will be livestreamed in the CBA Library.

Prizes of goody bags of books were handed out to students from each school who won the quiz and also those who were judged to have presented the best argument for their chosen book. Zuzanna from Year 7 won the prize for CBA for championing ‘I Must Betray You’.

Mrs Keelan said: This was a fantastic event for our students to be involved in. The team at BWA put in a lot of effort to host the event, and it’s been a joy to discuss and debate this year’s shortlist of books with the CBA Shadowing Group. The students who attended are already looking forward to next year’s event.
