Remembrance 2023

Corby Business Academy commemorates Remembrance 2023

Brooke Weston Trust's Combined Cadet Force (CCF) commemorated Remembrance 2023 in a special parade and presentation ceremony earlier this week. In attendance was Colonel Blomfield and his wife who were delighted to share in the experience.

Colonel Blomfield praised the cadets stating; 'As always, the greatest of pleasures to be able to support you and to be with the cadets; I realise that it took quite a long time to complete the 'inspection' but, on the other hand, I know how important it is to spent just a little time speaking to every individual - in the hope that each one feels special. The problem is that the larger the contingent becomes, the longer it takes; at least we were not in the open on a boiling hot day!!

Brooke Weston Trust CCF is, undoubtedly, one of the big success stories and it is very much a tribute to you, having been with it from the very beginning (in fact from the embryo stage) all the way through, that today we see such a thriving and splendidly organised contingent. Without question, it is a great credit to the Royal Anglian Cap Badge and is an important part of the Royal Anglian Family.  I was also pleased also to see two Grenadier Guards SNCOs as part of the supporting cast, perhaps needless to say helping to ensure that the occasion ran so smoothly.

Mrs Blomfield wishes me to say again that she was particularly pleased to be made to feel so welcome and to be presented with such a splendid bouquet of beautiful flowers; she adds that it was a pleasure to be able to meet you all and to chat with a number of the parents.'

On Friday, Corby Business Academy CCF, 422 Squadron Air Cadets, Student Senate and musicians participated in a special remembrance service at the Academy. All students were involved in respecting the minute silence to remember those who served to defend our freedoms and those who serve to continue keep us safe, as well as the families of those people and the unique sacrifices they make. We were honoured to welcome Mayor Leanne Buckingham to share in our observance; 'Today was an absolute privilege and honour. Thank you! Beautiful service.'
