This week, as part of the Worldviews and Personal Development programme of study, CBA had the incredible opportunity to host up-and-coming music artist and social influencer Sissy Ford. Known for her captivating covers of popular songs and her original music, Sissy left our students in awe during her sessions.

One song that particularly caught everyone’s attention was a soon-to-be-released track titled "Nail the Coffin." Students were buzzing with excitement, eagerly asking about its release date, highlighting Sissy's growing popularity.

Sissy's musical talents were complemented by the impressive skills of her Spanish guitarist, who also received significant interest from our students. The dynamic duo performed a range of songs, showcasing Sissy’s wide repertoire and earning massive support from the audience.

However, the visit wasn't solely about music. Sissy inspired students by sharing her journey in the music industry. She talked about the hard work and dedication that led her to take A-level Psychology and Music in just one year, in order that she could achieve her dream of becoming a member of a prestigious London performing arts school. In an extended question and answer session, she answered many student questions about how to carve out your own career path in the music industry.

In addition to her music, Sissy spread the message of the importance of using social media safely and responsibly. She shared valuable insights on how she has handled trolls and negative comments, encouraging students to stay above negativity and not let social media overwhelm their lives.

Dr Rowe commented that the enthusiasm from our students was palpable, and at the end of the sessions, nearly every student lined up for signed autographs. Year 8, in particular, showed overwhelming excitement, almost mobbing Sissy as she left. By the end of her three sessions, she must have gained an extra 600 followers!

Overall, Sissy Ford’s visit was a resounding success, leaving students inspired and excited about their own potential in both music and life. We look forward to following her journey and can't wait to see where her talent takes her next!
