Suggestions Sought For Summer Salad
Entry forms are available from the tills in the restaurant and the three entries judged to be the best will be sold during lunchtimes.
Students can make up their own summer salad by choosing an item of protein then adding vegetables, fruit, carbohydrates and dressings of their choice.
Catering manager Chris Lapsley - pictured here with his own salad comprising Chinese chicken, noodles, pineapple and chicken - will narrow the entries down to 10.
Restaurant Committee chairman Nicole Parsons and Vice Principal Sarah Ashby will then pick the final three before a taste test is carried out among students in the restaurant to pick the winner, who will win a £10 WHSmith voucher.
Mr Lapsley said: "With the summer coming up, we want to encourage more students to start eating salads. They contain a number of students' five-a-day to help them stay healthy.
"We also want them to have more of a say in what we do in the restaurant and we are aiming to run a different competition each term."
The closing date is May 20th.
