New Session 4 Club Hits The Spot
The new Session 4 club is starting this term and is being run by teacher Phil Woolley.
Funding received from Corby Borough Council has meant that the sports hall cupboard is fully stocked with all the equipment and Mr Woolley now needs a band of students to pick up a bow and arrow.
Mr Woolley, who is a qualified archery coach, said: "It is a great sport for students looking for something a little bit different. It will also appeal to those students who don't enjoy the athletic side of sport.
"I suggest students come along to the first session to give it a try and see if they enjoy it."
The Session 4 club will teach students the basic techniques of the sport, and there will be lots of opportunity for students to fire at the target.
And for those who discover a talent for archery and want to compete, there are likely to be some inter school matches with The Kingswood School (which also received funding from Corby Borough Council).
A new archery club has also been founded in Corby and so anyone who develops a passion for the sport will have the opportunity to join.
The Session 4 club starts on Thursday, September 22 and is open to all years.
There will also be some taster sessions on offer for interested staff.
