Students elect their new form representatives
CBA students went to the polls to elect the students who will represent their interests this year.
Between Monday, September 10, and Friday, September 14, students in the eight form groups in every year voted to choose two students to be their representatives on the School Council.
Students were given the chance to put themselves forward for the role and students who chose to run were asked to write a manifesto explaining what they would do for their form if they were elected.
Form representatives discuss issues which are important to the students they represent and pass suggestions on to representatives on the Academy’s Senate.
On Friday, September 14, the two elected students from each form gathered in the mall to sign the student declaration.
All of the students who have been elected as form representatives on the Student Council will now have the chance to apply to be part of the Academy’s Senate. Applications are made in the form of a letter and the successful candidates will be chosen based on the content of their letters.
Senior Assistant Principal Kirsty Farrar said: “The students really got into the spirit of the elections for the new form representatives, it's been great to see democracy in action within the Academy. By signing the student declaration the newly-elected form representatives have now formally accepted the duties the role involves."
