We’re now half way through this year’s CBA chess championship, with three weeks left for contenders to pick up the points to be in with a chance of becoming our chess champion.

Players have competed in the competition, which is run during Session 4 on Wednesdays in the library, over three weeks.

The competition takes a break this week but will continue with the final three rounds taking place over the next three weeks.

More than 15 players have competed right from the start.

Librarian Amy McKay said: “The students have been really enjoying the chess championship this year.”

The competition is played in Swiss-style rounds, meaning players take part in every round and always have an opponent.

The winner will be chosen on a points system, as contenders earn points for each win.
