Students are celebrating after the school once again posted record results.

Provisional figures indicate that 91% percent of students gained 5 A* to C grades, a rise of 13% percent on the previous year.

The number of students achieving 5 A* to C grades, including English and Maths, also rose by 14 per cent this year to 52 percent.

Principal John Henrys said: “This is the first Academy cohort to go through all five years, from Years 7 to 11, at Corby Business Academy.

“The significant increases in overall attainment and progress are as a result of the hard work of both the students and staff here at the Academy.

“Congratulations to all of the students who achieved the grades they need to get onto the courses they want to study next year.”

Student successes include Julia Komor, who achieved 12 A* and A grades, Katherine Qualey, who achieved 10 A*s and As, and Gautham Kumar, who achieved 11 A* and A grades. These students also achieved a number of vocational qualifications at Distinction and Distinction Star to supplement their outstanding GCSE results.

Julia, who was this year crowned CBA student of the year gained A* grades in English literature, French, Maths, Physics, Polish and Religious Studies said: “I put in a huge amount of work across all subjects and am really delighted with how I have done.

I am going on to study Biology, Chemistry, English and Statistics at A Level as I want to study medicine and then go on to a Russell Group university.”

A medical career is also the dream of doctor’s son Gautham who also gained a clutch of top grade marks.

He said: “I spent lots of time working on the science subjects and the hard work paid off. The teachers have been a great help all throughout my studies here at CBA.”

 Megan Hogg , who scooped top A* grades in Media and RS and A grades in French, English literature, media and history is returning to the CBA sixth form to study history, English literature, medicine and psychology ahead of a hoped for career in law.

She said: “it has been a long wait over the summer but it just feels great. I did lots of study and revision as I know you have to put the work in to get the grades.”

Our specialist subject enjoyed good results, with a large number of students achieving the Distinction Star grade in BTEC Business.

As well as some fantastic GCSE results for Year 11 students, Year 10s who have taken GCSE Maths a year early also got their results. The results mean that 53% of the Academy’s Year 10 students now have a GCSE in Maths at grade C or above.
