Talented gymnast Macie Walker won a Gold medal in vault at a gymnastics competition in Malta.

Macie, who is in Year 7, took part in the competition with the rest of her team from Corby Gymnastics Academy in July.

It was Macie’s first international gymnastic event.

Teams from all over Europe, including Belgium, the Netherlands and Malta, were represented.

Corby Gymnastics Academy won overall second place and its members won five individual medals, including Macie’s gold.

Macie said: “I had never been to a competition abroad like that before, it was fun.

“I’ve been doing gymnastics since I was five years old and I go five times a week.”

The next competition Macie will compete in will take place in Leicester next month.
