CBA runners will take on district's finest

Athletes from Corby Business Academy are preparing to take on the best runners in the district.

Athletes from Corby Business Academy are preparing to take on the best runners in the district.
The academy will send a team of cross country runners, ranging from Year 7 students through to Sixth Formers, to this year’s Kettering and Corby District Schools Cross Country Championships.
The event will be held at the West Glebe Sports Pavilion in Corby and the top 20 runners in each category will be chosen to represent the district at the county championships.
CBA active teacher Natasha Dunstone said: “Last year we had a few students get through to the county championships and as a result we’ve had a lot of interest from students who want to take part in the competition this year.
“I’m putting on a few practice sessions before the event to help our runners get to grips with the distances involved.
“I think the thing they will find the hardest is the terrain because I expect it will be really muddy after all the wet weather we’ve had.
“The challenge for all of them is to complete their distance.
“There are a number of students who I’m hopeful will make it through to the county championships, including Jake Lewis in Year 12 and Chloe Iliff.”
Boys in Years 10 to 13 will run 2.6 miles, girls in Years 10 to 13 and boys in Years 8 and 9 will run 1.7 miles, girls in Years 8 and 9 and boys in Year 7 will run 1.5 miles and girls in Year 7 will run 1.2 miles.
The district championships will take place on Monday 25th November.
