Year 9 students create board games
Board games featuring Father Christmas and gingerbread men have been made by our Year 9 students.
Board games featuring Father Christmas and gingerbread men have been made by our Year 9 students.
The games were made during the final week of term as part of a project designed to encourage the students to think creatively and work together in teams.
The project also tested the students’ ability to produce clear written instructions in preparation for their functional skills tests.
Teacher Claire Howsam said: “The students have been really productive and they enjoyed making the games. They had to make the whole thing from scratch – all they were given were two dice.
“The project encouraged them to be creative and it got them to write out instructions which had to be clear so that others could follow them.
“We will see how well the students managed to do this when they come to play each other’s games on the final day of term.
“Some of the games look very detailed and I’m looking forward to seeing them played.”
Year 9 student Lizzy Crosby was helping to make a game which featured a gingerbread man as its main decoration.
She said: “You have to throw a dice to move around the board and then you have to answer questions.
“I’ve really enjoyed helping to make it.”
