A group of students catered for about 150 members of staff as part of their Catering and Hospitality GCSE course.
The 20 Year 11 students put on a Christmas afternoon tea for staff at the end of last term in the Academy’s restaurant.
They sent out invitations, created the menu, prepared the food, decorated the restaurant, served the tea and cleaned up afterwards.
Director of Design Technology, Cath Davis, said: “There was a lot of work involved.
“Before the event, the students had to consult Mr Henrys to find out if they could put on a Christmas afternoon tea for our staff and then the staff were sent invitations.
“The students were so well organized and during the event Melissa Williams emerged as a natural born leader – by 10am she had worked out a plan for the whole day.
“They did so well and several staff said at the end that they had been completely blown away by the event.”
The menu included CBA mince pies, CBA mince Viennese pies, jam and cream scones, cheese scones, a variety of sandwiches, chicken and mushroom vol-au-vents and cheese vol-au-vents.
The students also received support from Paula at the restaurant.
The Catering and Hospitality course is designed to help the students develop the skills they need for careers in restaurants and hotels.
