Academy is 'exceptional' at helping students to make progress

Corby Business Academy has received a prestigious national award for helping our students to make progress.

Corby Business Academy has received a prestigious national award for helping our students to make progress.

The latest figures from the Department of Education for state-funded schools in England show the Academy is in the top 20 per cent of schools for the progress made by pupils between the key stage 2 results they arrive at secondary school with and their GCSE results at age 16.

As a result we have qualified for an Educational Outcomes Award from the SSAT – the national schools’ membership organization for improvement and collaboration.

SSAT chief executive Sue Williamson said: “Corby Business Academy should be congratulated for their exceptional achievement.

“They have proved themselves to be leading the field in improving GCSE outcomes for their students.

“There is so much good practice that this school could share, and I hope many schools will join us at the celebration ceremony for the chance to network and share strategies with award-winning schools.

“These results are testament to the commitment and hard work of the students, teachers and leadership team at Corby Business Academy and show what can be achieved when skilled teachers have high expectations and ambition for every young person.

“I am proud that this school is a member of the SSAT network.”

Principal John Henrys (pictured) added: “We are very pleased to be recognised by the SSAT as an Academy that has made outstanding progress in our educational outcomes.

“Last year's students made great efforts with their work, supported by a dedicated team of staff in order to achieve this award.

“We are now putting the finishing touches towards what we hope to be an equally successful set of outcomes this summer.”

The school has been invited to receive its award at a regional ceremony hosted by SSAT at Parkside Community College in Cambridge on June 5.
