CBA’s senior concert band are celebrating winning the silver award after competing in the local heat of the National Concert Band Festival for the first time.
Around 40 CBA musicians took part in the Midlands heat of the festival at Northampton School for Boys on Sunday, November 18.
The CBA senior concert band competed in the school wind band class against bands from Warwick School and Northampton School for Boys.
The senior concert band played pieces including ‘Pastime With Good Company’ and ‘Encanto’, and cornet player Sam Addy and trombone player George Brabbs played solos.
Director of music Clive Wears said: “They were superb ambassadors for the school and they were performing at such a high standard.
“They won the silver award, which was a fantastic achievement, and they met the standard in several categories for the gold award.
“They have done really well. It was the first year we have been part of the festival and it’s going to become annual.”
