January 2013 Raising of the participation age letter

January 2013

Dear Parent/Carer

The raising of the compulsory participation age means that all current year 11 students must stay in education or training until they reach the age of 17.  Many of our students have made applications to the CBA Sixth Form or applied to local colleges. Please ensure your son/daughter has considered his/her options and has made appropriate applications.

In order to study Level 3 qualifications at Corby Business Academy students must achieve a grade C in both GCSE English and GCSE Maths. We also have a limited number of places on our Enterprise course which allows those with a D in English and Maths to re-sit their GCSEs.

We currently employ TimelyAdvice and Connexions to provide support for those students who do not wish to apply for a place a in the Sixth form at CBA. Students who are unlikely to reach the entry requirements are also receiving this support in order to identify suitable next steps in their education.

Our full post-sixteen admissions policy can be accessed on the school website. If you require any further information please email kisaksen@corbybusinessacademy.org

Yours faithfully

Mrs Kim Isaksen

Head of Sixth Form
