Planning to go to University?

Results Day preparation

A-Level Results day can be overwhelming for many students however here are some things that you can do to help you prepare:

  • Have a back-up plan - Make a list of alternative Universities and courses in case you achieve lower or higher results than you expected. One way to do this is on Unifrog. After submitting your applications you can use Unifrog's uk uni Shortlisting tool to create an alternative Universities list.
  • Get familiar with Clearing - Clearing is a process in which students without a any university offers can apply for unfilled University vacancies for both students who may have achieved higher or lower grades than expected or for those who have changed their mind about the type of university or course they want to study but please be aware applying for a place this way can mean few accomodation choices are available.
Clearing is open from 5th July so you can use the UCAS website or Unifrog's Clearing Tool to see which universities still have places available. This will help you refine your list and make it more realistic. Note: If you have Unifrog's Daily Summary emails pn then Unifrog will send you email updates.
  • Read and read again - Read through some of UniFrog's Results day guides so that you are familar with the day and different clearing processes and options should you need them.
