Our Vision & Values

Commit, Believe, Achieve

School values are the foundation of a high-quality education, shaping not only what pupils learn but also how they grow as individuals. As Lucy Coy, Co-Founder of HeadteacherChat and educationalist states:

“Values should not just be words on paper, but the guiding principles of every action we take. Real values shape not only the education we provide but also the character we nurture in our pupils. Together, we can build a community where integrity, curiosity, and inclusivity thrive, preparing our pupils to become thoughtful, compassionate, and empowered citizens of the world.”

When values are truly lived and embedded into every aspect of school life, they foster positive behaviour, strengthen relationships, and create a culture where respect and aspiration are the norm. This shared moral compass unites staff, pupils, and parents in a common purpose, ensuring that achievement is not measured solely by academic results, but by the development of responsible, resilient, and socially conscious young people.

It is therefore important that we routinely return to these values as a community. These values were identified in collaboration with students over 5 years ago now and are very much part of our identity. Revisiting our values regularly with students ensures they remain a living, breathing part of our school culture, guiding every decision, interaction, and aspiration. By embedding them in lessons, assemblies, and daily conversations, we reinforce the behaviours and attitudes that help our community flourish. This consistent focus not only holds us accountable to the highest standards but also nurtures a strong sense of shared vision and belonging, where every pupil feels connected to something bigger than themselves.

What our values mean to us

Commit

Commitment is a human trait that drives success and enables progress. This value represents the importance of committing to learning and making the choice to participate and engage with it. It shows an awareness that education is not something that happens to you but something you must engage with and contribute to. It highlights the significance of having a positive approach towards not only education, but life, establishing a foundation where every member of the community can accomplish anything.

Believe

Belief is essential in growing the confidence to approach any situation with determination. It promotes a ‘can do’ attitude and encourages resilience. This value epitomises character and empowers students to approach learning without a fear of failure. It is important that young people believe they will accomplish both short time tasks and long-term ambitions. This value also asks us to believe in others. When we believe in the very best for everyone, we increase everyone’s chances of success-not just our own.

Achieve

Achievement is the recognition that progress has been made. It is motivational not just an end point in and of itself. To achieve a positive outcome displays an ability to develop and show personal, or collective growth. Achievement comes in many shapes forms and sizes, and we celebrate them all. Whether it is academic, creative or emotional development, achievement allows an acknowledgement or progress, excellence and the earning of tickets for life.

We value your partnership in instilling these values in our young people and look forward to embedding further into all aspects of school life over the coming year.
