Free School Meals information

Corby Business School appreciates that some parents do not apply for Free School Meals (FSM) but now, more than ever, it can clearly be seen to have educational advantages for individual students for a number of years through their school career. FSM eligibility is more than a meal at lunchtime.

We would encourage all parents who may be eligible for FSM to pursue this support avenue. It could help children considerably whilst they are at school and give them access to many more opportunities. If you are unsure as to the benefits, please do not hesitate to give us a call.

Updates from September 2026

From September 2026, eligibility for FSM is expanding, meaning that you may now be eligible for FSM, even if you weren't before.

There will be two types of FSM available, Targeted FSM (which is based on household income below £7,400 and in receipt of Universal Credit) and Expanded FSM (where a household in receipt of Universal Credit is eligible to apply for FSM).

All families who are eligible can apply at any time, even if your child already receives FSM.

You will be aware from previous communications that those previously eligible for free school meals are required to reapply from 1 September 2026 and must reapply annually going forward.  New applications can be made at any time if your circumstances change; if you are unsure that you are eligible, we recommend that you try by clicking on the link below.  You will be informed instantly if you are eligible and this information will be shared with the school and we can update your information.

If you want your child to have a free, healthy meal at lunchtime that’s great – they will get the free meal (saving you more than £350 a year) plus extra benefits and the school get extra funding.

If you don’t want your child to have the school meals they can continue as normal – as long as you qualify and are registered, the school still gets funding.
