The Sixth Form curriculum builds on previous learning in life and functional skills so that each student becomes more prepared for the transition into adulthood, as well as developing employability skills and promoting independence. Students will follow a highly differentiated personal pathway and develop a healthy, safer lifestyle. Social skills and a focus on real world application, including community visits, use of money and safe travel are embedded across the curriculum.
The curriculum is enriched by a range of creative and physical educational activities and opportunities, including the Young Enterprise Team Programme.
To help prepare students for life beyond school, they can undertake work experience and volunteer in the local community as well as participate in talks and tours of local colleges and post 18 provisions.
Note: Entry Level accreditation in Life Skills is based on knowledge and Functional Skills accreditation is based on applying skills.

The Unit Sixth Form participate in the Young Enterprise Team Programme each year.
The Team Programme is an enterprise journey for SEND students designed to aid transition from education into adulthood, developing independent living and employability skills.
RS provide volunteer business advisers to work alongside the students. Our business advisers, Bonnie Dunion and Donna Constable, bring their knowledge and expertise from the world of work to guide the students as they set up and run their own student company. Each student takes on a job role and is responsible for an area of the business such as finance, sales or marketing.
Young Enterprise runs competitions for Team Programme students to participate in across the academic year. There are three standalone competitions:
- Best Logo Competition
- Best Advert Competition
- Best Presentation Competition
Through taking part in the Team Programme, the students will have opportunities to develop confidence to communicate and interact with people in a variety of situations including: working as part of a team; gain confidence of handling money and understanding of numbers in a practical context; understand and develop essential life skills to help with transition into adulthood.
Introducing Memory Lane
This year’s Unit Sixth Form Team Programme, Memory Lane, is led by Year 13 Manager Jacob and Year 12 Manager Pearl.
Memory Lane is a creative enterprise dedicated to lovingly crafting unique, handmade polymer clay keepsakes that celebrate friendship, honour loved ones and preserve meaningful memories.
With care, creativity and strong teamwork at its heart, the team aims to help people remember and celebrate the lives of those who matter most.
Their thoughtfully designed logo, featuring a robin, symbolises remembrance and connection, bringing together their name, values and brand in a heartfelt way.

Team Programme Best Advert Competition
Students in the Unit Sixth Form have been enthusiastically involved in the Young Enterprise Team Programme, collaborating to create a thoughtful and imaginative advertisement. We are thrilled to share that their company, Memory Lane, has won the Best Advert competition.
Year 13 Manager Jacob expressed that he was “happy and ecstatic to win,” highlighting how much he enjoyed the creative process and the striking red isolation effect used in the final video. Year 12 Manager Pearl shared her pride in the achievement, noting that she created the large robin featured in the advert and was “happy and proud of the win.”
Samantha Norman, Educational Partnership Manager at Young Enterprise, praised the team for securing first place, offering her warm congratulations. Judges commended the advert as a “unique handmade product, well thought through to touch the hearts of those who would purchase,” and applauded its effective imagery, careful design choices, and meaningful concept.
A huge well done to Memory Lane on this outstanding success!

Young Enterprise East Midlands Trade Fair
Jacob, Pearl, Jenny and Owen represented Memory Lane at the East Midlands Trade Fair held at Market Harborough Indoor Market on Tuesday 24th March 2026.
Schools from South Lincolnshire, Leicestershire and Northamptonshire were invited to take part. Teams traded to the public throughout the day, were assessed by mystery shoppers and competed in four categories: Best Trade Stand, Most Innovative Product, Best Customer Service and Best Overall Company.
We are very proud of the students, who set themselves the goal of winning Best Trade Stand, which they achieved, and were delighted to be surprised with Best Overall Company as well.
Feedback from the mystery shoppers included: "Really lovely products, good price points. Very good display, excellent customer service. Such a nice concept!" and "Great thought into the product, clear team roles and excellent role models for the school".
We are extremely proud of their outstanding achievement at this event.

Young Enterprise County Finals on Thursday 7th May 2026:
Unit Sixth Form students attended the Young Enterprise County Finals on Thursday 7 May 2026 at Northampton Town Football Club. Three companies competed at the event: Re Chic (Northampton School for Girls), Wires & Pliers (Guilsborough Academy) and Memory Lane (Corby Business School). Prior to the finals, each team submitted a comprehensive 15-page company report and delivered a four minute presentation on the night to judges Helen Smith, Head of Marketing at Market Harborough Building Society, and Stephen Norman, Financial Credit Risk Analyst. Teams competed across several award categories, including Sustainability, Teamwork, Innovation, and Sales and Marketing.
Memory Lane were the final team to present, with managers Jacob and Pearl leading the presentation and Owen confidently managing the slides. Their polished and professional pitch impressed the judges, and we are incredibly proud to announce that the team won two trophies for Sales and Marketing and Innovation, receiving high praise for their advert and creative approach. Helen Smith later commented on how impressed she was with the company’s strong profits and praised the concept and products, particularly the popular robin designs.
On Friday, the team received the exciting news that they are in the running for the Inspire Award at the Midlands Regional Finals and have been invited to De Montfort University on Wednesday 20 May to discover whether they will go on to represent the region at the National Finals at Cardiff University on 3 June. We wish Memory Lane the very best of luck as they progress to the Regional Finals.

Young Enterprise Regional Finals Wednesday 20th May:
The Young Enterprise Regional Final took place at De Montfort University in Leicester on Wednesday 20th May, where eleven companies from across the region came together to compete. Ten teams took part in the Company Programme, with Memory Lane proudly representing Northamptonshire as the sole entrant in the Team Programme.
Memory Lane were the final team to present. Despite understandable nerves and anticipation, Jacob and Pearl delivered their presentation with confidence and clarity, supported seamlessly by Owen on the slides. Their professionalism, teamwork and polished delivery made a strong impression on the judging panel, who praised the group for their maturity and the clear passion they bring to their business. Students were also delighted to meet guest speaker Rosemary Conley, whose inspiring words added to the excitement of the day.
The team were thrilled to be announced as the winners of the Inspire Award for the Midlands, a category recognising resilience, dedication and exceptional progress throughout the Young Enterprise journey. This achievement secures Memory Lane a place at the National Finals in Cardiff on 3rd June.
The award was presented by Sam Norman, our School Company’s Education Partnership Manager, who shared heartfelt words about the team’s journey and character. “Memory Lane truly embodies what this award is about: resilience, commitment, and a drive to succeed. I am incredibly proud of everything they have achieved, and I can’t think of a more deserving winner.”
We wish Memory Lane the very best of luck as they progress to the National Final in Cardiff and continue to represent Unit Sixth Form with pride.

Young Enterprise National Final: On Wednesday 3rd June:
Four Unit Provision Sixth Form students: Jacob, Pearl, Jenny and Owen travelled to Cardiff University to represent Memory Lane at the Young Enterprise National Final. As Midlands Inspire Award winners, the team joined the top-achieving student companies from across the UK for a day of challenges, business bazaar and celebrations.
Unlike previous stages, teams did not present live on the day. Instead, students took part in a vibrant Business Bazaar, where they showcased their products, engaged with mystery shoppers, Young Enterprise team members and volunteers. They demonstrated the professionalism that has defined their Young Enterprise journey across the whole event. Owen also represented Memory Lane in The Apprentice Challenge, responding to rapid-fire questions about the company to see whether he could “get hired”. A task he handled with confidence and quick thinking and was proud to gain his medal saying that he was hired.
Although the team did not secure the National Inspire Award, they were incredibly proud to return home with three national awards they had not expected to win:
· Team Programme Company of the Year — Winner, recognising Memory Lane as the top Team Programme company in the UK.
· Best Customer Service Award — awarded for exceptional customer interaction and professionalism during the Business Bazaar, competing against twenty other companies.
· Outstanding Individual Achievement Award — presented to Jenny, recognised as the leading individual across all Team Programme companies in the UK.
The day concluded with a warm and emotional awards celebration, where achievements across both the Company Programme and Team Programme were recognised. Watching the students reflect on how far they had come, from their first ideas to standing proudly on the national stage, was a moment of genuine pride for everyone involved.
Memory Lane’s journey to the National Final is a testament to their resilience, teamwork and unwavering commitment to their business. Their achievements this year have been exceptional, and they continue to inspire us all.
Congratulations, Memory Lane, on an extraordinary national achievement.
