Corby Business Academy Proudly Celebrates Post-16 Achievements

Students and staff at Corby Business Academy are celebrating today after achieving another strong set of post-16 results, including A levels and vocational qualifications. 

This year’s results reflect continued consistent performance across a range of subjects, with the overwhelming majority of students securing the grades needed to progress to their chosen next steps, including university, apprenticeships and employment. This year saw some of the highest grades secured in Maths, Further Maths, History and Business. There was also significant increase in the number of students achieving A*s, As, Distinctions and Distinction*s across the academy. The average vocational grade has also increased to an impressive Distinction from a Merit last year. 

Kerry Prior, Principal of the academy, which is part of Brooke Weston Trust, said: 

“Today is a day of great celebration for our whole school community. I am immensely proud of the achievements of our Key Stage 5 students. Their excellent results are a testament to the hard work, commitment, and determination they have demonstrated throughout their time with us. 

These young people have shown remarkable dedication in pursuing their goals and I'm thrilled to see so many of them realised today. Their accomplishments reflect not only their academic ability but their perseverance and ambition. We all look forward to following their future successes as they progress to university, apprenticeships, employment, and other exciting pursuits” 

She added “I would also like to acknowledge the invaluable contribution of our teaching and support staff. Their expertise, encouragement, and unwavering commitment to our students have played a vital role in helping them reach this important milestone. I know I speak for everyone when I say we have been honoured to be part of every student’s journey leaving us today and have no doubt they will continue to impress as they take their next steps.“ 

Among those celebrating their results are: 

• Hannah Boaden, who achieved an A* in Maths, an A in Further Maths, and an A in Chemistry. With such an excellent set of results Hannah had a range of choices available to her and will be completing an AAT 4 Accounting degree apprenticeship with Azets in Huntingdon. This will culminate in the equivalent of a Masters qualification. 

• Joseph Diaz-Osbourn, who secured an A* in Maths, and A in Further Maths and an A in Physics. Joseph plans to study Mechanical Engineering at the University of Birmingham. 

• Rachel Miller, who earned an A* in Business, an A in Psychology and a Distinction in BTEC Sport. Rachel has decided to defer her place this year but will continue her studies at Liverpool University where she will undertake a degree in Business Management the year after. 

• David Kepli, who achieved an A* in Maths, and A in Further Maths and an A in Computer Science. David has secured his first choice at Birmingham University and will be studying Maths and Computer Science next year. 

• Harriett Dunn, who achieved a Distinctions in both Health and Social Care and Sport with a Distinction* in Travel and Tourism. These incredible results are taking her to the University of Leicester to study Physiotherapy. 

• Alexa Brownlee, achieved an A in Physics, an A* in Maths and an A in Further Maths. She is looking forward to starting at Manchester University to study Maths after the Summer break.
